26 weeks and counting.......

We had a doctor’s appointment yesterday afternoon. Everything is right on track. My weight is good and I am measuring at just the right number of weeks. The doctor could hear the heartbeat as soon as the Doppler touched my stomach. It was 148 beats a minute, strong and steady! Our visits are now scheduled for every 2 weeks. It is hard to believe that we will be entering the 3rd trimester by the next appointment!

Jeff has been working hard on projects around the house. There is still a lot to be done but the main one – the nursery – is almost complete. The only thing left is to get our Christmas decorations moved out of the closet so we can use it for the baby. He painted the room and stained the chair rail last week. Mom and Dad Sedberry came down and dad helped him get the chair rail up last Saturday. I love it! The bottom of the room is painted a dark red and the top is a goldish tan color to match the bedding set. There isn’t a mattress in the crib yet but at least we know the baby will have a room even if the rest of our projects are still in the works. I tell ya – having a crib makes everything seem SOO real! I will post pictures as soon as I recruit Jeff to get them from the camera to the computer so I can upload them. I am beginning to think it would be much easier for him to just teach me how to do it myself than for me to bug him every time I want new pictures on the computer.

Thanks to the help of some of my friends, we are finally registered for the baby showers. We had a bright idea (feel the sarcasm?) one night after work that we would go to Target and register. I have been around babies all of my life so I will admit that I was not too intimidated by the idea of registering. I could not have been more wrong! After 2 hours of staring at all of the bottle/pacifier choices (with 2 bathroom breaks and really sore feet), I directed Jeff to just scan some things so we could get out of there! Turns out Target would have kicked us out when they closed 10 minutes later anyways. I enlisted the help of some friends with small kids before heading to Babies R Us for the big registering outing. They gave me a few ideas on the good, the bad and the wastes of money. Thank you girls! 2 hours later, we emerged from Babies R Us with a feeling of accomplishment. On the way home I decided to flip through the print out and see what we had accomplished. Guess what? They forgot to delete the registry scanner from the people that had it before us. We went home and pulled up the registry on-line and Jeff spent the rest of the afternoon deleting their items one by one. Oh, what an adventure!
