Happy Birthday Gramps!

Gramps had his birthday on March 29th. Leah was all about helping him open his presents and assisting everyone at the table in eating their ice cream cake :). Happy Birthday Gramps!

(after 4 attempts at getting a picture of Leah with Gramps, this is the best we could do. There was not much sitting still to be had)

Mommy's helper!
We usually buy the Yoplait for kids yogurt but opted for Trix this time....oh my. The coloring used is probably not meant for this age. She had fun with it though! The other flavor in the pack is cherry - HOT pink!

Leah and daddy (look at those smiles as she learns how to get her hands on his wallet, haha)

Leah, Uncle BB, Connor
Evan wasn't too sure how he would feel about Leah before she was born but they quickly became buddies. Grandma with all of her grandkids:

She got Mamaw and Papaw onto the floor to play with her at their house. She pretty much runs the show (and knows it). Time for a drink break. Of course she opted for the McD's cup knowing that wouldn't be allowed by mommy. And while she is getting away with everything, she might as well just eat all of Papaw's ice, right out of his cup.

Sprout's Progress

We had a bit of a scare the end of February when Sprout started showing signs of an early arrival and I was only 27 weeks along. Thankfully we were able to get the contractions stopped with a little fetal monitoring at the hospital and bed rest. Bed rest is an interesting choice of words when there is a toddler residing in the same home and a husband that works nights. Jeff's supervisor's were very understanding and he was able to take a couple vacation days to stay home. Not only did he take care of Leah, but he took care of a lot of things at the house so I wasn't tempted to get up and work on the to-do list. My mom has also been a huge help. She has came down several times on Jeff's days to work to help out around the house and with Leah. Of course I am NOT GOOD at sitting still. A friend from work reminded me that a clean house is temporary but a premature baby is a lifetime. I have focused on that and worked very hard to follow doctor's orders.
Along with the wonderful doctors, helpful family and friends and flexible work schedule, let's not forget the power of prayer! I have thanked God every single day throughout this pregnancy for the blessing of another gift. Many prayers were also said to get us through the scare and we thank everyone that had us in their thoughts and prayers. Our church, Geist Christian, has also sent cards and notes on an almost weekly basis.

As you can see below, Sprout is doing great and is growing, growing, growing!

February, 2010

Leah's sit and spin is one of her favorite toys. She hasn't quite grasped how to make it turn on her own so she brings it to daddy and he spins it for her. Way to be resourceful!

She loves her baby dolls. Great Grandma Shanks gave her this baby bed. She tucks her babies in and covers them with all of their blankets.

She also reverts back to baby a bit and likes to get in the bed herself. She even gets into the diaper bag and finds the baby bottle. She used to get very frustrated that she was too big for the bed until she discovered that she is just the right size to sit in the bed with her legs in front of her. It should be interesting a few months from now when Sprout gets here.

Leah got a new chair from mamaw. The only real way to try it out is with a good book and sippy cup!

Leah and her doggies......

Dudley and Finnigan are quite the troopers when it comes to little miss Leah. She sure loves them but they also have to put up with a lot of her "hugs" and attention. Pugs truly are great dogs with kids! They were bred in China to be companions. That translates into patient, loving lap dogs!

January, 2010

She may be little but she has figured out how to operate most of the adults around her. She knows where all of the soft spots are.

She doesn't sit still for long but always seems to take a few minutes to cuddle up with gramps.

She takes her books to grams!
Little miss independent....
I thought it was book time with mommy but quickly realized she just wanted my phone :) Oh well, it kept her in one place long enough for a quick picture with mommy!
She is a bit attached to mamaw when she visits. I don't think mamaw minds though.

Leah and her friends!

Leah has a bit of social butterfly in her. She loves to play with her friends. Here are some of her little playmates from January.

Brooke
Ty, Jenna (and Hank). She was a much bigger fan of Hank's when he was outside :)

And of course...Connor.
